Neomycin Sulfate Ointment

Ingredient: Neomycin Sulfate

Appearance: This product is a light yellow to yellow ointment.

Pharmacological Effects:

Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It has strong antibacterial activity against most Gram-negative bacilli, such as Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., and Pasteurella multocida, and is also effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
It is ineffective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

This product is intended for topical anti-infective use only and is minimally absorbed.

Indications:

Aminoglycoside antibiotic. For external use in the treatment of wound infections.

Dosage and Administration:

Topical application: Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area.

Adverse Reactions:

This product is limited to topical use. However, if significant absorption occurs, it may cause irreversible partial or complete hearing loss. Ototoxicity is dose-related.
Local application may also cause rash, itching, drug fever, or even severe toxic reactions.

Precautions:

1. Contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to this product or other aminoglycoside antibiotics.

2. Local application may cause allergic reactions.

3. Ineffective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Withdrawal Period: Not required.
