Imidacloprid and Moxidectin Spot-on Solutions(for Cats)

Ingredients: Imidacloprid, Moxidectin.

Appearance: Yellow to yellow-brown liquid.

Pharmacological Effects:Antiparasitic agent.

Pharmacodynamics:
Imidacloprid is a new-generation chloronicotinyl insecticide with high affinity for postsynaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the central nervous system of insects. It inhibits acetylcholine activity, resulting in paralysis and death of parasites. It is effective against adult fleas and all larval stages, and also has a killing effect on flea larvae present in the environment.

Moxidectin has a mechanism of action similar to avermectins and ivermectin and exhibits strong efficacy against internal and external parasites, especially nematodes and arthropods. Its antiparasitic activity is achieved by promoting the release of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), enhancing its binding to postsynaptic receptors and opening chloride ion channels. Moxidectin also has high selectivity and affinity for glutamate-gated chloride ion channels, thereby interfering with neuromuscular signal transmission, causing flaccid paralysis and death of parasites. The primary sites of action are inhibitory interneurons and excitatory motor neurons in nematodes, and neuromuscular junctions in arthropods.
When used in combination, imidacloprid and moxidectin exhibit a synergistic effect.

Pharmacokinetics:
After the first administration, imidacloprid rapidly distributes over the body surface of the cat on the same day and remains on the skin throughout the dosing interval. One to two days after administration, the plasma concentration of moxidectin reaches its peak, then distributes throughout the body within one month and is slowly metabolized and eliminated.

Indications:

For the prevention and treatment of internal and external parasitic infections in cats, including:
– Prevention and treatment of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis)
– Treatment of ear mite infestations (Otodectes cynotis)
– Treatment of gastrointestinal nematode infections (adult, immature adult and L4 larvae of Toxocara cati and Ancylostoma tubaeforme)
– Prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis L3 and L4 larvae)
This product may also be used as an adjunct treatment for flea allergy dermatitis.

Dosage and Administration:

Calculated based on this product. For external use only. Single dose: 0.1 ml per kg body weight for cats. During prevention or treatment, apply once monthly. To prevent licking, apply only to the skin at the back of the neck of the cat.

Recommended Dosage Table for Cats:

Prevention and Treatment of Flea Infestations:
A single administration prevents reinfestation for up to 4 weeks. Flea pupae already present in the environment may hatch after 6 weeks or longer, depending on local climate conditions. To interrupt the flea life cycle, treatment with this product should be combined with appropriate environmental control measures.

Treatment of Ear Mite Infestations:
Single administration. After 30 days, a veterinary examination should be performed to determine whether a second treatment is necessary.

Prevention of Heartworm Disease:
For cats living in or traveling through heartworm-endemic areas, administer once monthly throughout the year or starting one month before the mosquito season and continue until one month after the mosquito season ends. It is recommended to administer on the same day each month.
When switching from another heartworm preventive product, the first dose of this product should be administered within one month after the last dose of the previous product.

Adverse Reactions:

1. This product may cause transient pruritus. Rarely (>1/10,000 to <1/1,000), hair clumping, erythema, or vomiting may be observed; these reactions usually resolve without treatment. Local allergic reactions may occasionally occur.

2. If the animal licks the application site after administration, very rare cases (<1/10,000) may show transient neurological signs such as excitation, tremors, ocular signs (mydriasis, reduced pupillary reflex, nystagmus), abnormal respiration, salivation, or vomiting. Very rare transient behavioral changes such as reluctance to move, excitation, or reduced appetite may also occur.

Precautions:

1. Do not use in cats under 9 weeks of age. Do not use in cats hypersensitive to this product or its excipients. The safety of this product has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating cats; use only under veterinary advice.

2. For cats weighing less than 1 kg, use only under veterinary guidance.

3. Cats living in or having traveled to heartworm-endemic areas should be tested for heartworm infection (cats older than 6 months) before using this product. If infection is confirmed, appropriate treatment should be instituted according to current scientific knowledge. Cats infected with adult heartworms may experience severe adverse events, including death, after use of this product.

4. Prevent oral ingestion by Collies, Old English Sheepdogs, and related breeds.

5. Use in sick or debilitated cats only under veterinary advice.

6. Do not use in dogs.

7. During use, avoid contact of the solution with the eyes and mouth of the treated animal or other animals. Prevent animals from licking each other until the application site is dry. Do not touch or groom the hair before the site is dry.

8. Occasional contact with water once or twice during the treatment period does not significantly affect efficacy. Frequent shampooing or immersion in water may reduce efficacy.

9. Keep out of reach of children.

10. Store below 30°C. Do not use after the expiry date.

11. Persons with known hypersensitivity to this product should avoid handling it.

12. When administering, avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mouth. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during use. Wash hands thoroughly after application. If accidental skin contact occurs, wash immediately with soap and water. If contact with eyes occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention with this leaflet.

13. There is currently no specific antidote. In case of accidental ingestion, oral administration of activated charcoal may aid detoxification.

14. The solvent in this product may stain or damage leather, fabrics, plastics, and painted surfaces. Prevent contact with such materials until the application site is dry.

15. Do not allow this product to enter surface water.

16. Unused product and packaging should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
