Ingredient: Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride

Indications:It is used for calming and pain relief in dogs and cats, facilitating clinical examinations, treatments, small-scale dental surgeries and other minor operations.

It can also be used as an anesthetic pre-medication before general anesthesia for dogs.

Description:This product is a colorless and clear liquid.

Pharmacology:

Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α₂-adrenergic receptor agonist.It produces sedation, analgesia, anxiolysis and sympatholytic effects by stimulating central α₂-receptors.It has minimal effects on respiratory function, and sedation is characterized by a natural sleep-like state with easy arousal.The onset is rapid, and the duration is short.The sedative and analgesic effects can be rapidly and completely reversed by atipamezole.

Fast onset of action and short duration, the best sedative and analgesic effect can be achieved 15-30 minutes after injection, suitable for minor clinical operations and examinations.

Dosage and Administration

Adverse Reactions:

1.Transient hypertension occurs after administration, followed by blood pressure returning to normal or slightly lower levels.

2.Reduced respiratory rate and hypothermia (the severity is dose-dependent).

3.Slowed gastrointestinal peristalsis, elevated blood glucose and increased urine output due to inhibited insulin release.

4.Spontaneous muscle twitches may occur in dogs after sedation; central nervous stimulation and vomiting may be seen in cats.

5.Potential allergic reactions and paradoxical excitatory responses may occur occasionally.

Precautions:

1.Fast dogs/cats for 12 hours before administration.

2.μg/kg dosage decreases with increased body weight.

3.Contraindicated in animals with organ insufficiency, shock, severe weakness or stress.

4.Handle sedated animals with caution to avoid aggressive behavior.
