Ingredient: Diclazuril 2.5%

Mechanism of Action:

Interferes with the synthesis of Eimeria’s cell wall (specifically, the formation of oocyst walls and the development of schizonts) and disrupts parasite energy metabolism. This action kills all key intracellular stages of Eimeria, stopping replication and reducing oocyst shedding (which prevents disease spread).

Key Target Parasites:

Species-specific Eimeria strains that infect:

Poultry:

Eimeria tenella (causes cecal coccidiosis), E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. necatrix (common in broilers, layers, turkeys, and game birds like pheasants).

Livestock:

Eimeria bovis, E. zuernii (cattle); E. debliecki, E. suis (swine); E. arloingi, E. ninakohlyakimovae (goats/sheep).

Pharmacokinetic Advantage:

Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, concentrates in the intestinal mucosa (the primary site of Eimeria infection), and has a long tissue half-life. This allows for single-dose or short-duration regimens (unlike some coccidiostats that require prolonged feeding), reducing handling and ensuring compliance.

Indications:

Poultry: Broilers, Layers, Turkeys, Game Birds

Treatment of clinical coccidiosis:

Addresses infections caused by Eimeria spp., which lead to:- Bloody/mucoid diarrhea, reduced feed/water intake.- Stunted growth, poor feathering, and high mortality (especially in broilers aged 2–6 weeks).

Prevention of coccidiosis:

Administered during peak susceptibility periods (e.g., broilers at 14–21 days of age; layers before reaching laying age) to suppress Eimeria replication and avoid outbreaks.

Control of subclinical coccidiosis:

Improves feed conversion rate (FCR) and average daily gain (ADG) by eliminating hidden parasite burdens that waste nutrients.

Cattle:Calves (dairy/beef calves, 1–6 months old)

Treatment of coccidiosis:

Caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii, which cause watery diarrhea (often with blood/mucus), dehydration, lethargy, and poor weight gain.

Prevention:

Given to calves at weaning or when moved to high-risk environments (e.g., crowded pens, pastures contaminated with Eimeria oocysts) to prevent infection.

Swine: Piglets (3–8 weeks old, suckling or weaned)

Treatment of coccidiosis:

Caused by Eimeria debliecki (suckling piglets) and E. suis (weaned piglets), leading to yellowish diarrhea, reduced appetite, and increased susceptibility to secondary bacterial infections.

Prevention:

Administered to piglets before exposure to contaminated bedding (a major source of Eimeria oocysts) to protect against infection.

Goats/Sheep: Kids (1–4 months old) and Lambs (1–3 months old)

Treatment of coccidiosis:

Caused by Eimeria arloingi (goats) and E. ninakohlyakimovae (sheep), resulting in severe diarrhea, weight loss, and high mortality in young animals.

Prevention:

Given during stress periods (e.g., weaning, transport) to reduce infection risk in vulnerable kids/lambs. |
