Core Indications

Prevention and Control of Poultry Coccidiosis

This dual action not only enhances efficacy against drug-sensitive Eimeria but also provides coverage for strains with partial resistance to either ingredient alone.

Target Animal Species

Poultry SpeciesEfficacy Against Key Eimeria StrainsKey Notes
Broiler Chickens– Eimeria tenella (cecal coccidiosis, the most lethal form)- E. acervulina (intestinal coccidiosis, common in young broilers)- E. maxima (jejunal coccidiosis, causes weight loss)- E. necatrix (severe intestinal damage)Most common use case; effective for prevention (primary) and early control of mild infections (before severe diarrhea/bloody feces appear).
Turkey Poults– Eimeria adenoeides (intestinal coccidiosis)- E. meleagrimitis (duodenal coccidiosis, stunts growth)- E. gallopavonis (small intestinal coccidiosis)Approved for young turkeys (1–12 weeks old); avoid use in adult turkeys (limited safety data and reduced coccidiosis risk).

Prohibited Species (Critical!)

Egg-laying hens (layers): Clopidol and ethopabate accumulate in eggs, posing human health risks (residues exceed food safety limits).

Breeder chickens: Risk of residue transfer to eggs or chicks; use single-ingredient premixes (if needed) under veterinary supervision.

Ducks, geese, pigeons: Ethopabate is toxic to these species (causes liver damage), and clopidol has no efficacy against their Eimeria strains.

Livestock (cattle, sheep, pigs) and companion animals (dogs, cats): No efficacy against their coccidia; unnecessary exposure risks toxicity.

Dosage

Key Premix Ratio Note

The 20% clopidol + 1.6% ethopabate formulation means:

1 kg of premix contains 200 g of clopidol and 16 g of ethopabate.

To achieve target feed concentrations, calculate the premix amount based on the required active ingredient levels (see tables below).

(1) Broiler Chickens

PurposeTarget Active Ingredient in FeedClopidol 20% + Ethopabate 1.6% Premix per kg of FeedDuration of Use
Prevention125 mg clopidol + 10 mg ethopabate0.625 g/kg feed (625 g/ton of feed)Day 1 of life to 28 days (or 5–7 days before the withdrawal period starts).
Early Control125 mg clopidol + 10 mg ethopabate0.625 g/kg feed (625 g/ton of feed)5–7 days (discontinue if clinical signs resolve; extend only with veterinary approval—ineffective for severe infections).

(2) Turkey Poults
