Ingredient: Ciprofloxacin 10%

Indications

This solution is indicated for acute, severe bacterial infections caused by ciprofloxacin-sensitive pathogens in poultry (chickens, ducks, geese) and livestock (pigs, calves). Due to fluoroquinolones’ high efficacy and risk of resistance, it is often used for treating moderate-to-severe infections (not recommended for mild cases).

Specific applicable scenarios include:

Poultry (Chickens, Ducks, Geese)

Respiratory tract infections:

Severe infectious coryza (caused by Haemophilus paragallinarum), acute chronic respiratory disease (CRD, complicated by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and secondary E. coli), and bacterial pneumonia (caused by Pasteurella multocida).

Digestive tract infections:

Severe bacterial enteritis (caused by drug-resistant Escherichia coli), pullorum disease (acute outbreaks of Salmonella pullorum), and fowl typhoid (severe Salmonella gallinarum infections).

Other infections:

Fowl cholera (acute septicemic Pasteurella multocida infections) and bacterial sinusitis (resistant Mycoplasma synoviae combined with bacterial infection).

Livestock (Pigs, Calves)

Porcine infections:

Acute porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC, caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis), post-weaning severe bacterial diarrhea (pathogenic E. coli or Salmonella choleraesuis), and swine dysentery (resistant Brachyspira hyodysenteriae).

Calf infections:

Neonatal calf septicemia (caused by E. coli or Salmonella), bacterial pneumonia (severe Pasteurella multocida or Mannheimia haemolytica infections), and calf scours (drug-resistant bacterial-induced diarrhea).

Dosage and Administration

SpeciesActive Ingredient Dosage (per kg body weight per day)Corresponding Volume of 10% Solution (per kg body weight per day)Administration MethodCourse of Treatment
Chickens/Ducks5–10 mg0.05–0.1 mLMix into drinking water; ensure all birds consume the medicated water within 3–4 hours (ciprofloxacin is sensitive to light/heat—avoid prolonged storage of diluted water).3–5 consecutive days
Pigs4–8 mg0.04–0.08 mLMix into drinking water (preferably fresh) or feed (ensure uniform mixing); for severe cases, use oral drenching.5–7 consecutive days
Calves5–10 mg0.05–0.1 mLOral drenching (use a dosing syringe to prevent aspiration into the trachea); avoid mixing with milk (calcium reduces absorption).3–5 consecutive days

Withdrawal period:

Adhere strictly to the product label’s withdrawal period (e.g., 8 days for chickens, 15 days for pigs, 10 days for calves) to prevent drug residues in meat/edible by-products (fluoroquinolones have strict residue limits in food).

Storage Requirements

Temperature:

Store in a cool, dark place at 2–20°C; avoid high-temperature environments (e.g., near stoves, direct sunlight through windows) or freezing (may cause solution turbidity or precipitation).

Light protection:

Store in the original opaque packaging.

Moisture prevention:

Do not store in humid areas (e.g., barn cellars, near water troughs) to avoid bottle corrosion, solution discoloration (turning yellow/brown), or microbial contamination.

Sealing:

After each use, tightly screw the bottle cap to prevent solvent evaporation (reduces active ingredient concentration) or air exposure (accelerates oxidation).

Safety isolation:

Store separately from feed, human food, or human drugs (to avoid cross-contamination).

Keep out of the reach of children and pets (accidental ingestion by children may cause cartilage damage; by pets, may induce drug resistance).

Expiry date:

Do not use beyond the expiration date printed on the label; expired ciprofloxacin may lose efficacy or cause adverse reactions (e.g., gastrointestinal irritation).
