Compound Glutaraldehyde and Quarternary Amonium

Ingredient:

 Compound Glutaraldehyde 15% and Quarternary Amonium 10%

This compound disinfectant (combining glutaraldehyde and quaternary ammonium salts) is a broad-spectrum, high-efficiency inanimate-object disinfectant widely used in animal husbandry (livestock, poultry), aquaculture, and pet care.

It is strictly for environmental and equipment disinfection of animals—never for direct use on animal body surfaces, oral cavities, wounds, or mucous membranes (it causes severe irritation, corrosion, or poisoning).

Indications

It targets common pathogens in animal farming (bacteria, viruses, fungi) and is suitable for disinfection of inanimate objects/environments in the following scenarios:

Livestock Farming (Cattle, Sheep, Pigs, Goats)

Facilities:

Disinfection of pens, barns (walls, floors, ceilings), feeding troughs, drinking fountains, and manure cleaning tools.

Transportation: 

Disinfection of animal transport vehicles (cargo compartments, railings) before and after transporting livestock (prevents cross-infection of pathogens like foot-and-mouth disease virus, classical swine fever virus, or bovine viral diarrhea virus).

Auxiliary areas:

Disinfection of disinfection pools at barn entrances, staff changing rooms, and tool storage rooms.

Poultry Farming (Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Quails)

Facilities:

Disinfection of chicken coops/duck houses (including cage frames, egg trays, ventilation systems), feeders, and water lines (flush water lines first to remove scale, then disinfect).

Epidemic prevention:

Key disinfection after poultry diseases (e.g., avian influenza, Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis) to eliminate residual pathogens.

Hatching areas:

Disinfection of hatching machines (external surfaces), egg storage rooms, and transfer tools (avoid direct contact with hatching eggs).

Aquaculture (Fish, Shrimp, Crabs, Shellfish)

Facilities:

Disinfection of culture ponds (empty pond disinfection: sun-dry first, then spray disinfectant), aquaculture tanks, aerators, and fishing nets (soak disinfection).

Water environment: Low-concentration disinfection of culture water (targets pathogenic bacteria like Aeromonas hydrophila, Vibrio parahaemolyticus)—must control dosage to avoid aquatic organism poisoning.

Pet Care (Dogs, Cats, Small Mammals)

Pet living areas:

Disinfection of cages, litter boxes, food bowls (non-metallic), toys (rubber/plastic), and floor surfaces in pet rooms.

Avoidance:

Never use on pet beds (fabric may absorb the disinfectant, causing skin irritation when pets lie on it) or directly spray near pet noses/eyes.

The original solution (15% glutaraldehyde + 10% quaternary ammonium) is highly concentrated, corrosive, and irritating. It must be diluted with clean water (tap water, well water, or deionized water) to achieve safe and effective concentrations. Dilution ratios vary by animal type, target, and contamination level—adjustments are required compared to the 15% quaternary ammonium version to maintain balanced efficacy.

Storage Requirements (Animal-Farming-Specific)

Temperature & light:

Store in a cool, dry, dark place (5°C – 30°C). Avoid direct sunlight (glutaraldehyde decomposes and loses effectiveness) and high temperatures (e.g., near barn heaters or aquaculture aerator motors).

Sealing:

Keep the original container tightly closed at all times—volatilized glutaraldehyde gas is irritating to animals’ respiratory tracts (especially poultry) and reduces the product’s potency.

Isolation from animals/feed: 

Store in a locked cabinet or a dedicated storage room far from animal pens, feed warehouses, and drinking water tanks. Never store with veterinary drugs, feed additives, or pet food (prevents accidental mixing and poisoning).

Container material:

Do not transfer to metal containers (aluminum, copper)—the disinfectant reacts with metal to cause corrosion and produce toxic substances. Use opaque plastic or dark glass containers if transferring.

Shelf life:

The original solution has a shelf life of 24 months (check the product label). Once diluted, use it up within 24 hours (diluted solutions deteriorate quickly and may grow bacteria, which harms animals).
