Basic Product Information

Basic Product Information

Concentration: 50 μg/mL

Core Mechanism:

Stimulates the anterior pituitary gland to secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This triggers follicular maturation, ovulation, and regulation of the estrous cycle—key for reproductive management in cows.

Key Advantage:

The 50 μg/mL concentration allows low-volume, precise dosing, minimizing injection site discomfort and ensuring consistent delivery of therapeutic GnRH levels.

Indications

Gonadorelin injection (50 μg/mL) is used exclusively for reproductive health management in cows, targeting cyclicity and fertility challenges:

Estrus Synchronization (for Timed Artificial Insemination )

A core component of synchronized breeding protocols (e.g., Ovsynch, Select Synch) for both cycling and anestrous cows. It initiates uniform follicular wave development and coordinates ovulation, enabling timed AI without relying on estrus detection.

Induction of Ovulation

Triggers ovulation in cows with mature ovarian follicles (≥18 mm, confirmed via ultrasound). Used for cows showing estrus but with delayed ovulation, or in assisted reproductive technologies (e.g., embryo transfer) to standardize ovulation timing.

Treatment of Functional Follicular Cysts

Resolves follicular cysts (fluid-filled ovarian structures >25 mm) that cause anestrus or irregular cycles. Gonadorelin stimulates LH release, which induces luteinization of cystic follicles, restoring normal ovarian function.

Enhancement of Post-Calving Cyclicity

Reduces the post-partum anestrus interval in high-producing dairy cows. It jumpstarts follicular development, helping cows return to cyclicity faster and improving the chance of early, successful AI.

Dosage & Administration

Route of Administration

Intramuscular (IM) injection (preferred):

Ensures rapid absorption, with peak LH levels reached within 30–45 minutes—critical for timely ovulation.

Subcutaneous (SC) injection (alternative):

Permitted for cows with sensitive muscle tissue; absorption is slightly slower but does not compromise efficacy.

Dosage Guidelines (50 μg/mL Concentration)

IndicationTarget Gonadorelin Dose (per cow)Injection Volume (50 μg/mL)Timing & Key Notes
Estrus Synchronization (Ovsynch)100–200 μg2–4 mLAdminister on Day 0; follow with prostaglandin (Day 7) and a second 100–200 μg dose (Day 9); timed AI occurs 16–20 hours after the second dose.
Induction of Ovulation100 μg2 mLAdminister when a mature follicle is detected via ultrasound; ovulation occurs within 24–36 hours.
Treatment of Follicular Cysts100–200 μg2–4 mLAdminister once; recheck via ultrasound after 10–14 days; repeat dose only if cysts persist.
Post-Calving Cyclicity Enhancement100 μg2 mLAdminister 14–21 days post-calving to initiate follicular development.

Clinical Trial Data

Efficacy has been validated in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with dairy and beef cows, focusing on synchronization success and fertility outcomes:

Trial 1:

Ovsynch Protocol Synchronization (n=250 Lactating Dairy Cows)

Study Design: Cows were split into two groups:

Treatment group: 2 mL (100 μg) gonadorelin (Day 0) → prostaglandin (Day 7) → 2 mL (100 μg) gonadorelin (Day 9) → timed AI (Day 10).

Control group: Natural estrus detection + AI.

Key Results:

Synchronization rate: 93% of treated cows were eligible for timed AI (vs. 65% of control cows with detectable estrus).

Conception rate: 59% in the treatment group vs. 57% in the control group (no significant difference, confirming synchronization does not harm fertility).

Trial 2: Follicular Cyst Treatment (n=80 Anestrous Cows)

Study Design: Cows with ultrasound-confirmed follicular cysts received 2–4 mL (100–200 μg) gonadorelin (IM) or no treatment.

Key Results:

Cyst resolution: 88% of treated cows had cyst luteinization within 14 days (vs. 10% of control cows).

Cycle recovery: 80% of treated cows resumed normal estrous cycles within 3 weeks (vs. 12% of control cows).

Trial 3:

Ovulation Induction (n=120 Beef Cows)

Study Design: Cows with mature follicles (>18 mm) received 2 mL (100 μg) gonadorelin (IM) or a placebo.

Key Results:

Ovulation rate: 95% of treated cows ovulated within 24–36 hours (vs. 35% of placebo cows).

Pregnancy rate: 68% of treated cows conceived after AI (vs. 39% of placbo cows).

Storage: Store at 2°C – 8°C (35.6°F – 46.4°F) (refrigerated, not frozen).

Light Protection: Keep in the original amber glass vial until use.
