Doxycyline Oral Solution

Ingredient: Doxycyline 10%

Indications

This solution is primarily indicated for acute and chronic bacterial, mycoplasmal, and certain rickettsial infections in poultry (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys) and livestock (pigs, calves, sheep).

Specific applicable scenarios include:

Poultry (Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys)

Respiratory tract infections:

Chronic respiratory disease (CRD, caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum), infectious sinusitis (caused by Mycoplasma synoviae), infectious coryza (secondary to Haemophilus paragallinarum), and secondary bacterial infections from viral diseases (e.g., avian influenza, Newcastle disease).

Digestive tract infections:

Bacterial enteritis (caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp. such as Salmonella pullorum and Salmonella gallinarum), and necrotic enteritis (secondary to Clostridium perfringens).

Other infections: Fowl cholera (caused by Pasteurella multocida) and avian spirochetosis (caused by Borrelia anserina).

Livestock (Pigs, Calves, Sheep)

Porcine infections:

Porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC, caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae), swine dysentery (caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae), post-weaning bacterial diarrhea (caused by E. coli), and porcine contagious pleuropneumonia.

Calf/Sheep infections:

Bacterial pneumonia (caused by Pasteurella spp., Mycoplasma spp.), bacterial enteritis (calf scours from E. coli or Salmonella), and anaplasmosis (a rickettsial disease caused by Anaplasma marginale).

Dosage and Administration

Withdrawal period:

Strictly follow the product label’s withdrawal period (e.g., 7 days for chickens, 14 days for pigs, 10 days for calves) to prevent drug residues in meat/eggs.

Storage Requirements

Temperature: Keep in a cool, dry place at 2–25°C; avoid high-temperature environments (e.g., near stoves, direct sunlight) to prevent solvent evaporation or active ingredient decomposition (doxycycline is heat-sensitive).

Light protection: Store in the original opaque packaging to avoid light-induced degradation (doxycycline is prone to photolysis, which reduces efficacy and produces toxic by-products).

Moisture prevention: Do not store in humid areas (e.g., barn cellars, near water troughs) to prevent bottle corrosion, solution turbidity, or caking (if the solution contains suspended particles).

Sealing: After each use, tightly screw the bottle cap to prevent contamination by microorganisms or evaporation of the solution (volatile solvents may reduce the active ingredient concentration).
